Our History

Log Cabin Mesquite Grill was purchased in November 2005, by Chris Garriga and Johnny Gaudet, shortly after their partnership formed with Ponchatoulas in 2004.  With a passion for good food and fun, the two brought life to “the Cabin”, as the regulars call it.

Located a quarter mile north of the intersection of I-20 and Highway 33 in Ruston, the building was originally a log cabin home.  When the home was converted into a restaurant some 30 years ago, ghost tales spread of the visits from the deceased elderly woman who lived in the home.  If walls could talk, Log Cabin Grill & Market, would have many a tale to tell.

Today the full-service restaurant offers patrons a wide variety menu that includes children’s menu items, appetizers, salads and spuds, along with some of the best mesquite grilled meats in town. Open for lunch and dinner, patrons often come for the dining atmosphere and family entertainment.  The restaurant’s rustic décor makes for a comfortable, casual dining experience.

The restaurant has continued to grow over the years, now with plans to expand again to include The Market, a retail section for patrons to purchase Log Cabin meats and heat-to-serve sides.  With this addition, you will leave the Cabin with more than a full stomach.  You’ll leave with meals for the week!  The planned retail section will include the famous Log Cabin T-shirt, bottled sauces, dry goods, meats, sides, and more.
